Philosophy
There are many philosophies of the menstrual/fertility/feminine cycle (the semantics become even more important in philosophy!), most of which arise from the religious beliefs and/or traditions of various cultures.
We encourage you to contribute to sheTIME’s re-visioning exercise: help to develop new, life-affirming ways of conceptualising and thinking about the cycle that are relevant for women in the 21st century.
As a starting point, you might consider terminology. What does the language that society uses about the feminine cycle and its manifestations reveal about society’s attitudes towards it? Can you choose to use the more positive terms, or possibly contribute some new ones of your own, in order to challenge and change your own thinking, and perhaps that of others?
